This article shows how to solve all the rotating stone puzzles that you will find in the Watatsumi island of the Inazuma region. Watatsumi island was introduced in Genshin Impact 2.1 update on 1st September 2021. There are a total of 11 cube puzzles on Watatsumi Island.

#1. Bourou Village: 3 Cube Puzzle

You will find the puzzle at the south portion of Bourou Village as shown in the picture below.

In this puzzle, you need to light up two leaves on each of the cubes. Hitting cube 1, lights a leaf on cubes 1 & 3. Hitting cube 2, lights a leaf on cubes 2 & 3. To solve the puzzle, Hit cube ‘1’ one time and hit cube ‘2’ two times. Solving the puzzle gives you a common chest.

#2. Mouun Shrine: 4 Cube Puzzle

Mouun Shrine is at the western edge of Watatsumi island of Inazuma Region. On the north side of Mouun Shrine, you will find a Rotating Cube Puzzle and on the south side, you will find a Lightning Strike Probe Puzzle. Solving both the puzzles gets you a Luxurious chest. Here I am only showing the Rotating Cube Puzzle part.

There are four rotating cubes on the north side of Mouun Shrine. I have numbered the cubes as shown below for easy understanding. You have to make all the cubes face inwards (make cube 1 face 3 and cube 2 face 4) to solve the puzzle. You can do so by hitting cube 1 twice, cube 2 thrice, and cube 3 once. On solving the puzzle, the Electro Seelie at the center of the cubes will start moving. Chase the Electro Seelie to its home to complete the puzzle.

#3. Sangonomiya Shrine: 3 Cube Puzzle

This puzzle is on the west of Sangonomiya shrine as shown below. This puzzle is very simple. There are three cubes (See the second picture below). Hit each cube until it faces north. You can do it by hitting the middle cube two times and the other two, three times. You get a common chest on solving the puzzle. This puzzle is part of a series of puzzles leading to a secret luxurious chest.

#4. Sangonomiya Shrine: 5 Cube Puzzle

This puzzle is on the east of Sangonomiya shrine as shown below. This puzzle is part of a series of puzzles leading to a secret luxurious chest.

In this puzzle, there are five cubes. Hitting cube 1 rotates cubes 1 & 2. Hitting cube 4 rotates cubes 3 & 4. Hitting cube 3 rotates cubes 2, 3 & 4. Hitting cube 2 rotates cubes 1, 2 & 3. To solve the puzzle you need to make all the cubes face towards the front side. Solving the puzzle gives you an exquisite chest.
Reset the puzzle by going far and coming back to the puzzle area, then follow the following steps to solve the puzzle:
1) Hit cube 1 three times
2) Hit cube 2 one time
3) Hit cube 3 three times
4) Hit cube 4 two times

#5. Sangonomiya Shrine: 4 Cube Puzzle

This puzzle is up the mountain on the east side of the Sangonomiya shrine as shown below.

There are four cubes here as shown below. Hitting a cube lights one leaf on the cube and one leaf on the cubes on its adjacent sides. Meaning, hitting cube 1 lights a leaf on cube 1,2, and 4. To solve the puzzle you will have to make two leaves glow on each cube. To do so, hit cube 1 two times after resetting the puzzle. Solving the puzzle will give you a common chest.

#6. Sangonomiya Shrine: 5 Cube Electroculus Puzzle

This puzzle is up the mountain on the north side of the Sangonomiya shrine as shown below.

This location has five rotating cubes as shown below. Hit each cube until they face south. Doing this will activate an Electrigranum Plant on the east side of the waterfall.

You can use the Electrogranum to get the Electroculus, which is high up in the air as shown in the picture below. Summon Electrogranum and then jump on the broken platform underneath the electroculus. The broken platform will join when you have Electrogranum with you. Then jump above using the thunder sphere to get the Electroculus.

#7. Sangonomiya Shrine Waterfall: 4 Cube Puzzle

This puzzle is in front of the waterfall at the location highlighted below. Solving the puzzle rewards you with an exquisite chest.

To solve the puzzle you will have to make the cubes face opposite to the waterfall.
Reset the puzzle then follow the below steps to solve the puzzle:
1) Hit the cube 1 one time
2) Hit the cube 2 three times
3) Hit the cube 3 three times

#8. Eastern Islands: 3 Cube Puzzle

This puzzle is on a small island on the eastern side of Watatsumi Island as shown below.

In this puzzle, you need to light up two leaves on each of the cubes. Hitting cube 1, lights a leaf on cubes 1 & 2. Hitting cube 3, lights a leaf on cubes 2 & 3. To solve the puzzle, hit cube ‘3’ one time and hit cube ‘1’ two times. Solving the puzzle gives you a common chest.

#9-11. Sudoku: 8 Rotating Cube Puzzle

You will find 8 rotating stone cubes on the east side of Bourou Village in Watatsumi Island at the location shown below. You can solve this puzzle three times to get 2 Exquisite Chests and 1 Precious Chest. You have to solve the puzzle and re-login for the puzzle to reset so that you can solve it again. First I will explain how to solve the puzzle then show the solution for all three puzzles.

Sudoku Puzzle Explained

You will find research notes near the Ruin machine explaining the puzzle. All the 8 blocks has a numerical value based on the direction it is facing and on whether it has a slate at it’s top or not.

Blocks that are facing North will have a value of 1, East will have a value of 2, West will have a value of 3, and west will have a value of 4. The direction of the blocks can be changed by attacking them.

Block with floating stone slate at its top will have an additional value of 4. The picture below shows what cubes with and without slate look like. The glowing symbol doesn’t mean anything.

The sole empty position has a value of ‘9’ as per the notes. The 8 cubes and 1 empty position make this a nine-slotted puzzle. The nine slots are in a form of a 3×3 grid as shown in the picture below. You have to make the sum of the numbers along the horizontal, vertical, and diagonal lines the same to solve this puzzle. This is a Sudoku puzzle and the solution is shown below. the number with yellow font shows the value of the empty slots and the white font shows the values for the cubes.

The image shown above is for the first puzzle. Values for each slot are shown in the picture below. You can get the solution by hitting the cubes as shown in the picture below. Hit the cube on the first column of the top row once. Hit the cube on the second column of the second row thrice. Hit the cube on the second column of the third row thrice. Hit the cube on the third column of the third row twice. On solving the puzzle you will get an exquisite chest.
