Elden Ring: Ymir Questline Complete Guide
This guide shows the complete walkthrough of Ymir & Jolan NPCs’ questlines in Elden Ring DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, which released on 21st June 2023. Click here for a Video Walkthrough.
Step 1: Talk to Ymir in the Cathedral of Manus Metyr
Go to the Cathedral of Manus Metyr and talk to Count Ymir there as shown in the pictures below. Exhaust all the dialogue options and you will get a Hole-Laden Necklace and a Ruins Map. Click here to see how to reach the Cathedral of Manus Metyr.
Step 2: Ring the Bell in Finger Ruins of Rhia
I will explain how to reach the Finger Ruins of Rhia, starting from the Cerulean Coast Cross Site of Grace. If you don’t know how to get there, then check this link to see how to get the Southern Shore map. The Grace Site location is not too far from there. The path from the Cerulean Coast Cross Site of Grace to the Finger Ruins of Rhia is shown with a blue line on the map below.
From the Grace Site, go north and jump down to the beach from the passage near the broken ship as shown in the picture below. Then go along the beach until you reach a ramp as shown in the second and third pictures below. Climb to the top of the ramp then go through the path on the right side to reach the Finger Ruins of Rhia.
After reaching the Finger Ruins of Rhia, go down to the cluster of fingers marked on the map. Then go near the finger hanging in the middle as shown in the picture below to sound the hanging bell. You will receive a Crimson Seed Talisman on sounding the bell.
Step 3: Talk to Ymir & Jolan
Go back to the cathedral and talk to Ymir. He will give you the 2nd Ruins Map. Now a new NPC named Jolan will appear in the cathedral. He will be standing in front of a pillar near Ymir. Talk to him and exhaust all the dialogues.
Step 4: Get the “O Mother” Gesture
Get the “O Mother” gesture from the corpse at the bottom of the tree in the north portion of Bonny Village as shown in the pictures below.
Step 5: Use the “O Mother” Gesture
Go to the Shadow Keep Back Gate as shown in the picture below. Click Here to see how to reach Shadow Keep Back Gate. Use the “O Mother” gesture while standing in front of the statue in the room next to the Grace Site as shown in the second and third pictures below. This will move the statue, revealing a secret path. Go through the secret path to reach Scaduview Area.
Step 6: Ring the Bell in the Ruins of Dheo
Go to the southern part of the Scaduview Area to reach the Ruins of Dheo. Sound the hanging bell there as shown in the pictures below to complete the objective. You will receive a Cerulean Seed Talisman on sounding the bell.
Step 7: Talk to Ymir & Jolan
Go back to the cathedral and talk to Ymir and Jolan. Exhaust all the dialogues. This time Ymir will give you the 3rd Ruins Map.
Step 8: Rest & Interact with Ymir’s Throne
Rest at a Grace SIte. Ymir will be gone after you rest or fast travel. Now interact with his throne as shown in the picture below. This will move the throne, revealing a secret ladder underneath the throne. Climb down the ladder to reach the Finger Ruins of Miyr.
Step 9: Ring the Bell in the Finger Ruins of Miyr
Proceed ahead in the Finger Ruins of Miyr. You will be invaded by the Swordhand of Night Anna. Defeat her to get the Claws of Night weapon. Then proceed further and ring the bell.
Step 10: Metyr, Mother of Fingers
Sounding the third bell will initiate a boss fight with Metyr, Mother of Fingers. Defeat it to get the Remembrance of the Mother Fingers.
Step 11: Defeat Ymir & Jolan
Return back to the cathedral and interact with the throne. Then you will be invaded by Jolan. Defeat him. Then you will have to fight Count Ymir. Defeat him to get Ymir’s Bell Bearing, Maternal Staff, High Priest Hat, High Priest Robe, High Priest Gloves, and High Priest Undergarments.
Step 12: Jolan’s Fate: Use Iris of Grace vs Use Iris of Occultation
Go to Jolan and you will get two options as shown in the picture below. If you use Iris of Grace, then you will get Swordhand of Night Jolan Spirit Ashes. If you use Iris of Occultation, then you will get Sword of Night. This completes the questline.
