This article will guide you on how to complete all the objectives of the side quest “A Candle in the Storm” in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

Starting Location
Requirement: Shadowed Prayers side quest
Head to Volcanic Island Camp and speak with an NPC Menella to start the quest. You can find her in the camp or hot springs.
Speak with the gaoled brigand
Head back to Bakbattahl, then go to the gaol and enter the gaol. Refer to the location below.
Speak with the prisoner named Herman. Pay him 5000 G and he reveals that he was instructed by the Coral Snakes.
Report back to Ser Menella
Head back to Volcanic Island Camp and deliver the information to NPC Menella. She should ask that you leak information about a false location of the Mepress to the Coral Snakes.
Leak information to the Coral Snakes
Head back to Bakbattahl, then go to the gaol. Speak with another prisoner named Ashe to leak the information.

Report back to Ser Menella
After leaking the information, follow the game marker and you should meet Ser Menella on the west side of Bakbattahl.
After speaking she will leave. Head to the newly marked spot on the map and enter the building. Here you should meet NPC Menella and NPC Nadinia. You can either support the empress’s proposal or oppose the empress’s proposal.
Unmask the mastermind
Speak with Menella again when you are ready to continue. At night another NPC arrives outside. Speak with the NPC and then bring him inside.
When the NPC asks for you to kill the Empress, you just need to attack and grab her. After the following dialogue, you will complete the quest.
