Dratini is a Dragon-type Pokemon that you will encounter only in the post-game of Pokemon Brilliant Diamond & Shining Pearl (BDSP). You will find Dratini in the Grand underground as well as in the wild. You will encounter Beldum in the Grand only after you have unlocked the National Pokedex. You can also catch Dratini in the wild using Super Rod. This guide shows the locations where you will encounter Dratini in the Grand Underground and in the wild.
1) Dratini Location in the Grand Underground
You won’t encounter Dratini in the Grand Underground until you have unlocked the National Pokedex. After finishing the Pokemon League, and registering all 150 Pokemon to the Sinnoh Pokedex, go and talk to the Professor in Sandgem town to get the National Pokedex. There is a total of 18 hideaways/Biomes in the Grand Underground. You will encounter Dratini in the Fountainspring Cave. Fountainspring Cave can be identified on the minimap by the icon shown in the picture below. You will need to press ‘Y’ to open the minimap. Click here to see how to reach all the areas in the grand underground. Place DragonType Statues in your secret base to increase the chances of Dratini spawning.
2) Catch Dratini using Super Rod
You will be able to catch Dratini using Super Rod in the Mount Coronet Cave. Click here to see how to get the Super Rod.
Go to Route 207, which is north of Oreburgh City. Then enter Mount Coronet cave as shown in the picture below.
As you enter the cave, you will see deep water in front as shown below. Use ‘Surf’ HM to cross the water.
After crossing the water, you will see a rocky mountain wall as shown below. Use ‘Rock Climb’ to climb up the wall.
Now preceded ahead and walk up the staircase to enter the next room. Go to the left side of this room, where you will see a small wooden bridge as shown below. Walk over the bridge, then pass under it and walk up the small staircase to reach a big wooden bridge (see the second picture below). Cross the wooden bridge and then walk under it to reach the room exit point. Go through the exit point to reach another room.
In this room, climb up the stairs to reach another room. Here you will see two stairs as shown below. Take the stairs upward. Then walk to the end of the path to exit the cave and reach an open area.
After coming out from the cave, walk on the grass on the right side till the end as shown below. Where the grass ends, you will see a rocky mountain. Use ‘Rock Climb’ to climb up.
Then turn right and enter the cave as shown in the picture below.
In this cave, use the Super Rod to catch Dratini. There is a 30% chance that Dratini will spawn here.
