Cleansing Defilement: Complete the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual Puzzles | Genshin Impact 2.0 World Quests

This article shows how to complete the ‘Cleansing Defilement’ world quest. To complete the quest you need to complete the Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual at three locations: Chinju Forest, Araumi, and below the tidal flats outside the Kamisato Estate.

Chinju Forest (Hayashi of Tanuki in the Forest)

Search for the source of the strange voice

You learn that an old friend of Kazari’s can be found in Chinju Forest. While in the forest you hear a strange shout. You will find the source of the strange voice in Chinju Forest at the location as shown in the picture below. At the highlighted location you will find a weird statue. Defeat the Hilichurls near the statue and then talk to the weird statue. The statue will ask you to find three little tanukis (Shousei, Gyougu Koban, and Kichiboushi) and play with them.

Find the little Tanuki (3/3)

From the location of the statue turn around and go down the stairs. You will find a little black Tanuki at the location as shown in the picture below. Follow it down the stairs and finally, it will turn into a torch. Attack the torch with fire.

Go down the stairs and turn right. At the location, as shown in the picture below you will find a few enemies with a barrel kept on top of a rock. Defeat the enemies and then destroy the barrel. Investigate the top of the rock for the second Tanuki to appear.

The final Tanuki is at the location as shown in the picture below. Follow it and you will end up at a location with three torches. Light up the three torches. Once you have found the three statues, report back to the statue, Ioroi. Ioroi will inform you that the seal should be under the cliff face to the east. Head to the objective marker and jump down the cliff to reach the barrier location.

Destroy the Barrier- Cleansing Puzzle

Enter the cave and start the cleansing ritual. Adjust order on the first shrine as you enter to count 1.

Adjust the shrine at front of the previous one to count 4.

From the previous shrine, go to the left corner of the room and adjust the shrine to count 3.

Climb above and ensure that the shrine is on count 2.

At the top, you will find another shrine at the top of a light. Adjust it to count 2.

Once you have adjusted all the shrines to the correct sequences, pray at shrine 1. The Ochimusha evil spirit will appear. Defeat it to complete the quest.

Araumi Cleansing Ritual

Electro Totem Puzzle

At Araumi you will find a tower at the location as shown in the picture below. At the southern end, there is a tree attached to the tower with two Electro totems near it (See picture 2 below). Hit the tomem with an electric element and the totem will glow.

Now go behind the tree. Near the tower, you will find a totem with five blocks around it. Hit the totem at the top right corner three times (See picture below). This will make the glowing part of the blocks turn towards you and a chest will appear in front of the electro totem (See the second picture below). Loot the chest and then hit the totem with an electric element and make it glow.

Turn around and go east. Nearby you will find another totem as shown in the picture below to make it glow. Once all the four electro totems are glowing go back to the starting location near the tree attached to the tower. You will now be able to access the block under the tree (See picture 2 below). Interact with the tree and it opens a path to enter the tower. Climb up the tower and jump inside it where you will find a precious chest and another puzzle.

Tower Memento Puzzle

Inside the basement, you will find three statuettes of the earth kitsune. Open your gadgets menu and select Memento Lens. Use the memento lens to observe the three statues which will make three electro blocks appear behind them as shown in the pictures below. Interacting with the three blocks will open a path and you will drop down.

Get Scroll Shaped Ward by Crossing Electro Barrier

As you drop down to the tower basement you will find a barrier to destroy. To start the puzzle you will need a Scroll Shaped Wand, which you will find an Electro barrier. Use the Memento Lens to observe the statuette of the earth and a plant will emerge behind it as shown in the picture below. Summon Electrogranum from the plant and use it to cross the electro barrier. Behind the barrier, attack the fox statue (See the second picture below) with an Electro attack, and a Scroll Shaped Ward will appear. Collect the ward.

Araumi Destroy the Barrier Puzzle

As you enter the puzzle area, interact with the shrine in front and use the Scroll-Shaped Ward to start the puzzle. There are two fox statues in the room that you need to observe with Memento Lens for the Shrines to appear. One fox is behind the barrier on the right side and the other on the left corner of the room (See first and second pictures below).

There is a total of five shrines in the room. Adjust the shrines to the sequences as shown in the third picture below. The numbers in the picture below represent the number of wings above the shrine. For example, if the number is ‘2’ that means you need to adjust the shrine so that 2 wings appear above it. Adjust the first shrine to count 1. Adjust the two shrines behind the barrier to count 2. Adjust the shrines on the left and the right side of the room to count 3. After completing the puzzle, Ochimusha will appear. Defeat it to complete Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual.

Kamisato Estate Cleansing Ritual

First You need to find the Genshin Impact Kamisato Estate barrier. Kamisato Estate barrier is inside an underground cave on the small island in the northeast of Kamisato Estate as marked on the map.

This underground cave is located on a small/tiny island. Before we go inside the cave to find Kamisato Estate Barrier, we need to collect the ‘Key-Shaped Ward’ from the fox statue. The fox statue is below the estate, near the waterfall area. Fly down near the fox statue as shown in the image below.

Open your gadgets menu and select Memento Lens. Use the memento lens to observe the small fox statues which will make three fox statues appear behind them as shown in the pictures below.  

Now use the power of Electro to strike the Fox statue. You can strike the statue with Keqing, Razor, or any other electro character. After striking the statue with electro power, you can collect the ‘Key-Shaped Ward’ from the fox statue.

Now head to the seashore. Interact with the mirror (Waverider waypoint) there to summon a Waverider. Get into your Waverider and set sail for the small island as marked on the map below. On the island, you will few more fox statues. Use the memento lens to observe the small fox statues on the island, which will reveal an underground cave.

Drop down inside the underground cave and follow the linear path to reach the tiny island that is the Kamisato Estate Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual area.

Place the Key-Shaped Ward to begin cleansing.  The lantern closest to the entrance needs to have two marks, while the one in the middle (closest to the barrier) should have one mark. The lantern on the extreme left and on the extreme right of the barrier requires three marks. The lantern behind the barrier needs to have two marks. In the below image I have marked the lantern location and numbers of marks required to solve the puzzle.

All the lanterns are marked correctly as shown in the above image and everything is done correctly. Now to cleanse the Kamisato Estate Barrier in the Genshin Impact Complete Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual quest, summon the Electrogranum and pray at the lantern with one dot (middle lantern). Electrogranum can be found near the lantern on the right where you placed three marks.

This will summon two shadowy samurai mini-bosses that you’ll have to defeat in order to finally break the barrier. Once both the mini-bosses are defeated Kamisato Estate Barrier Sacred Sakura Cleansing Ritual is completed successfully.
